My Peaks and Valleys piece started out as a sampler of such but turned into a story. I wanted to incorporate several techniques and then those techniques came to fruition in the form of the life stages of a dragonfly. The larva of a dragonfly spends years underwater waiting to hatch. The technique felt lace symbolizes that. The stitching is the movement and finally hatching of the insect. Of course to see the world for the first time, the adult dragonfly does a little happy dance as it emerges. It flies up around the flower to catch some unsuspecting creatures which come to check out the flower (pocket). It flies around in the clouds (raised prefelts) and toward the stars (sparkling bead inclusions).
