Moy Mackay in Shetland2020-02-22T20:15:06+00:00

The wonderful Moy Mackay is joining me in Shetland this year to work with my felting retreat participants.

She will also be giving a 2 day workshop, separate from the retreats, one in April and one in September. This is an excellent opportunity to work with such a talented artist and generous tutor!

From her home in the Scottish Borders, award winning artist Moy Mackay fuels her passion for colour and texture with an unceasing inspiration drawn from her surroundings in the beautiful Tweed Valley. She uses merino fleece fibres in the same way that a painter uses brushstrokes. The result is a “felt painting” of extraordinary warmth and texture. It is a fascinating, absorbing process which requires a fine balance between spontaneity and control and the wide spectrum of colours offers endless possibilities to create images of startling vibrancy and depth.

Moy is a published author and gallery owner. In 2016 Moy was  shortlisted in her heat of Sky Arts ‘Landscape Artist of the Year’.

Her work is exhibited in galleries throughout the UK and she has work in private collections worldwide.  Moy has traveled to Australia, America, Norway, Canada and Spain to teach her renowned art form.

Each type of image offers the chance to explore different techniques. On the second day, you’ll deepen the work with shading, enhancements and mark making through embellishing using needle felting and hand stitching.  Each student will create two artworks during the workshop.
