Textural Vessels :: Online Workshop2023-10-18T02:29:49+00:00

Textural Vessels  runs from October  18 – October 25, 2023

This class is now full for 2023! Watch for it again in late 2024!

The online classroom opens on October 9th for introductions and materials discussions.

Workshop Fee:  $225.00 USD

The materials list for this can be found HERE.   This class works mainly with wool prefelt and basic felting tools- all easy to acquire and/or make!

There are so many exciting surfaces we can create by manipulating prefelt.

In this Zoom based class, we’ll look at five of them, incorporating them into a highly textured, cylindrical vessel.

I’ve been wanting to explore these surface manipulations for over a decade, and finally, they found the right time and place to come to life! I’m really excited to share these easy-to-create textures. These surface textures require no resists and no sewing, only knots and folds, some very sharp and crisp and others more fluid and organic. They work together beautifully with a great range of dimensions and unity created through the simple palette. This palette emphasizes the textures and shadows they create.

The workshop takes place over 5 half day Zoom sessions. These meetings will be recorded and released immediately in the online classroom, for anyone that can’t attend live, due to scheduling or time zone.  There will be time in each Zoom session for Q and A’s. Following the live session days,  there are an extra 3 days available in the online classroom for you to post your finished pieces and ask any further questions.   This project takes about 7 hours to complete, and extra time is allowed for in the Zoom sessions, to allow for answering questions.  You can work along with me, during the Zoom session, or watch the recorded session and complete each stage of the work on your own time.

In my Zoom based workshops, my Zoom Technician, Emily, joins us for all sessions to help you with any issues in accessing the meetings, and also to ensure everything goes smoothly, with no technical issues during each session.  This way we can all focus on our felting, and not our devices or technology! I also always have one or two class assistants join our meetings, who have worked with me for years and are familiar with my techniques and the project. They’ll help answer your questions and direct your questions to me during the meetings, to be sure I see and hear all questions during those sessions.  It’s so important to me that you receive the best, most clear and easy-to-follow instructions and advice in any class!

This class is entirely Zoom based- the video meetings are all recorded but there are no extra pre-recorded videos or PDF’s. You have unlimited access to the class materials, including video recordings and class discussions.
